Matrine is a kind of alkaloid from Sophora japonica (kushen,Sophora flavescens Ait.; Common Name:Lightyellow Sophora Root,);and the main plant origin is Sophora japonica (kushen),also available from other plant origin such as Sophora subprostrata (shandougen), top parts of Sophora alopecuroides,and Radix Sophorae Subprostrata root(GuangDouGen).Matrine first isolated and identified out since 1958, and this is a unique etracyclo-quinolizindine alkaloid.
